A Day in the Life of MI Virtual Services

People often ask me what my days actually look like. It's a fair question — "virtual assistant" can sound quite abstract until you see it in action. So here's an honest, behind-the-scenes look at a typical day running MI Virtual Services.
7:00am — The School Run Comes First
Before anything else, mornings belong to my girls. Breakfast, school bags, the inevitable last-minute search for a missing shoe. This is why I built MI Virtual Services the way I did — so that the people I love most aren't the ones who lose out.
8:30am — The Day Begins
Once I'm back and settled, I start with a review of all my client inboxes. I check for anything urgent that came in overnight, flag it where needed, and begin working through responses. For clients who've asked me to manage their email independently, I'll draft and send. For those who like to review first, I'll prepare drafts ready for their approval.
9:30am — Calendar Check
I look at each client's diary for the day and week ahead. Are there any upcoming meetings that need confirming? Any appointments that were supposed to be booked and haven't been? Any conflicts that need resolving before they become a problem? Diary management works beautifully in the background — clients rarely notice it until something goes wrong. My job is to make sure it never does.
10:30am — Project Work
This is usually when I get into the meatier tasks — the things that require focus and a clear head. This might be preparing invoices for a client, updating their CRM with new leads, or working through a backlog of filing or invoicing. Every client is different, so this block looks different every day, which is one of the things I genuinely love about this work.
12:30pm — Lunch (Yes, Really)
One of the unexpected joys of running your own business is actually being able to take a proper lunch break. I make no apologies for this.
1:30pm — Social Media and Content
Several of my clients need help staying consistently visible online. This is when I'll schedule posts, check engagement, and make sure their social presence is ticking over. I work from content plans we've agreed together, so the voice always stays theirs — I'm just the one making sure it actually goes out.
3:00pm — Admin, Reporting, and Comms
The final block of my day is usually a mix of catching up on outstanding tasks, preparing activity reports, and communicating with clients. I believe strongly in keeping clients informed — not with lengthy updates, but with clear, concise notes on what's been done and what's coming next.
4:00pm — School Pick-Up
And just like that, the working day ends. The girls are home, the kettle goes on, and MI Virtual Services closes for the day.
Every day is different, and that's exactly how I like it. If you'd like to find out how I could support your business, I'd love to have a chat.
